Would you believe that i have never given anything to charity….well from what i can remember i havent. Maybe when i was 3 my mum took my blanket away from me and gave it to some underprivileged kids living on the street. But that wasnt meeee that was the mother.
In reality we should all give back to the world somehow, whether it be signing up to those annoying charity workers you see in shopping centres and high streets, or simply giving some change to a beggar you see every day at your local train station. But on average we dont, maybe its because giving to charity costs money, so when we stop and see beggars and/or chat to Oxfam workers, we know the underlining meaning of them talking to us is that they want our money. We can all give but we just dont. If every person in the United Kingdom gave £1 to charity each year….that amounts to over 50 million pounds, mad ay? What if they gave £10 a year….over half a million! Mad isnt it. Money is not in short demand, people willing to give any of their disposable income…now thats whats in demand.
As you all read last week i cleared out my room and found sooo much stuff, including a throwaway camera from a year ago (which is currently being developed), tons of books, girls belongings, dust, empty condom rappers, you get the idea. But what was most in abundance was clothing that i never wear or even want!!
Above is a photo of how much clothing i just didnt need or even wanted, 3 big bags full!!! Crazy, we accumulate so many items of clothing each year that we just believe we need when we obviously dont. So my charitable good deed was to give all my clothes to a nearby charity shop. And as you probably guessed from the photo above it was Oxfam. They were so nice in there, suppose you would be to someone giving you so much. Giving it all in was so great, seeing the smile on all the workers faces and, just knowing that it would hopefully be put to good use. It was nice
. It was funny too….the girl i went with Katie, when i told her i had 3 big bags full she decided to get some clothes together to give….unfortunately it only amounted to the size of Sainsburys bag, bless her. Girls just dont like to give up clothes
.
All in all it was a good experience and….Hopefully seeing the half smile on the face of the awkward and socially deprived Oxfam worker below will inspire you to want you to do something charitable sometime soon. She was such a bless, i said “Can i take a photo of us and the bags?” She said “Does that mean i have to be in it!!?” While going red in the face, awwwwwww.

the last charitable deed I did was not knocking a cyclist off his bike when he decided to go through a red light and into my car. traffic lights are for those bastard cyclists too but they just don’t get it.. well… we can’t all have as big gestures as you b-d. but i hope by letting that cyclist have continued use of both his legs I have helped the world in some way…. glad to hear you’re still living the dream : )
I did just the same Sam, I took 3 bags of clothes of good quality that I a)didnt wear and b)were of high enough quality to give over to charity.
I chose a new charity shop in Selby. North Yorkshire which works with under-privileged children, great stuff.
There is also a gentleman who stands in the town every day selling Big Issue, I bought him, a coffee and a sausage roll and had a chat, the guy is extremely polite, nothing to do with the coffee and roll, Ive spoke to him on previous occasions to find a rather upbeat personality, Im sure there is much to learn from this man.
The thing about charity is that it powers the law of returns, for everything you give unselfishly the Universe will give back ten fold, but only if your doing it for the right reasons, not for the returns!!
Id love to hear of any unexpected new gains that manifest in your life my mate.
kind regards, a big good on ya, and best wishes.
